The journey …
I am a newbie to self-publishing, but not to writing. No, I haven't published a fiction piece, but I have published articles and editorials in various newspapers. I'm retired, so part of my retirement plan is to write and self-publish my work.
For a long time, I've written small things. When my sons were younger, during naptime, I pounded on the typewriter keyboard, hoping to create the perfect novel. The stuff I wrote wasn't very good, but I kept at it until life interfered and put the dreams on hold.
I thought I had prepared myself for the new age of publishing. So when I retired earlier this year, I thought I would write my novels, put them on Amazon, and that the readers would come. Boy, was I naïve. Once I started down this road, I learned that self-publishing is a business demanding both money and effort for success.
The purpose of this site is to chronicle my journey into this new realm. My goal is to share my ups and downs, to help beginning writers understand self-publishing through my experiences.
Will it be a smooth road trip? It seems unlikely. I expect I will hit a few roadblocks and potholes.
My journey begins!
Cheers, KB
